He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Arthur Hill and Mignon Lucille Hill; his brother Donald C. Hill; his children, Geoffrey (Connie), Sarah Emmert Hill, Edward Jr. (Karen), Betty Harlan (Bruce), Mary Ann Weise (Richard) and Maude Sullivan (Mark); his stepdaughter Lyn Barnhart; and his sister Mary Jane Mauger (William). He was also cherished by Sixteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Timothy's Church or the Sam Center in Massillon.

“In loving memory of Edward Hill, Someone so special will not be forgotten. So special, indeed. One of the most gracious, kind, gentle, loving individuals of my life. I am so appreciative that God put Ed in my life for the several years we were good friends at the Y with our YMCA family. To you, Sarah: you were certainly made in his mold - so loving and caring, also. I'm sure your daughterly love carried him through more quality years of life. You are an angel. I pray for you ad your family.”
