He is survived by: his wife Susan K. Bechtel (Vellenga); his son Travis Bechtel (Keri) of Goodrich, MI; his grandchildren, Reghan Bechtel and Ethan Bechtel; his siblings, Tom Bechtel (Becky) of Kenton, Randy Bechtel of Bellefontaine, Rick Bechtel (Bernadette) of Texas, Therese Calland (Keith) of St. Paris, Jodi Prater (Ray) of Bellefontaine and Gina Huffman (Dan) of Piqua; and his brother-in-law Nick Jarnagin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, November 8th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Gretna Brethren Church in the Fellowship Hall (1546 Township Rd 46, Bellefontaine, OH 43311).
