He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Sr. Dearwester and Naomi O. Dearwester (Curl); his wife Mary Catheryn Dearwester (Lucas); his son Charles David LeVan (Diane); and his brother Harry C. Dearwester.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Jean Bowers (Lowell) of Lakeview, Denise Hess (Richard) of Tennessee and Ronald Bruce Dearwester (Susan) of Zanesfield; his siblings, Ida C. Frederick of Bellefontaine, Frances L. Thatcher of Bellefontaine, Lucy R. Whitehead of Bellefontaine, John E. Dearwester, Jr. (Sue) of Bellefontaine, William L. "Willie" Dearwester of Bellefontaine, Paul E. Dearwester of Bellefontaine and Homer R. Dearwester (Mary) of Bellefontaine; and his brother-in-law Jim Berton (Kim) of Bellefontaine. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.
