He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Harry Carter and Adalaide Carter (Andrews); his former wife Marlene K. Ealy; his son Robert S. Carter; and his siblings, Jay Carter, James Carter and Joan Kowalski.
He is survived by: his children, David A. Carter and Michelle Carter Eades; his grandchildren, Jessie Callahan, David Carter, Sarai Carter, Henry Carter, Gus Carter, Jack Eades and Carter Eades; his great grandchildren, Sloane, Brenner and Boone; his brother Jon Carter; and his wife Mimi. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be sent to a local teacher fund.
