He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Abel and Margaret Abel; his wife Mary Jean Abel; and his sister Bonnie Norton. He is survived by: his sons, Travis Abel (Melissa) of Richland, WA, Chad Abel (Tova) of Naples, FL and Nathan Abel (Abby) of Bellevue; and his sister Sandy Jackson (Jim) of Wisconsin. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.
