He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Elder and Vera Lee Elder; his wife Evelyn Irene Ross Elder; his son Tom Todd; his siblings, Matt, Rex, Johnny, Ed and Maxine; and his son-in-law Denny Cowie.
He is survived by: his children, Dianne Cowie of Las Vegas and Ron Elder (Robertta) of Belpre. He is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
