He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Minerd and Pauline Harris Minerd; his sons, Ryan and Sheldon Minerd; and his siblings, Danny, Ricky Minerd and Hilda Norris.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Ransom Minerd; his daughters, Randa Lampley of Akron and Wendy Milligan of New York; his brother Roger Minerd of Salem Virginia; and his grandchildren, Jordan, Matthew and Brian.
