She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert W. Cornelius and Elizabeth Cornelius (Kovach); and her siblings, Barbara Kovach and Elmer Cornelius. She is survived by: her husband Timothy "Tim" Smearman; her children, Susan Ruiz of Brilliant, OH and Chad Smearman (Sammi) of Wheeling, WV; and her grandchildren, Madison Ruiz and Devon Bailey.
