He is survived by: his close friend Lois Lyth-Smoot; his sons, Larry Smoot, Jr. (Christine) of Brookfield, Brian Smoot (Keri) of Medina, David Smoot of Cuyahoga Falls and Steven Smoot (Courtney) of Brookfield; his grandchildren, Matthew Smoot, Nathaniel Smoot, Nicholas Smoot, Sadi Smoot, Kaylie Smoot and Bryson Smoot; his sisters, Linda Kurtzman of Greenville, Susan Levering of Indianapolis and Becky Terkhorn of Seymour, Indiana; and his pet Buster.
