She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Niehaus and Martha Niehaus; and her husband Sylvester M. Balash, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Martin Balash (Pamela), Jennifer Balash, Joseph Balash (Rita) and Patricia Balash; her grandchildren, Jacob Balash, Zachary Balash and Melissa Lustek; and her brother Carl Niehaus (late Marietta).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Chris' name to Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 6656 Center Road, Valley City, OH 44280.
