He is survived by: his wife Janet Thomas-Kanya; his sister Ruth Kanya; and his nieces and nephews, Robert P. Kanya, Kimberly Vlk (Kanya), Leslie VanKuren, Corinne Mirch (VanKuren) and Mark VanKuren. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
