He was predeceased by: his father Welden Schiefer; his daughter Jennifer Jo Harris; his granddaughter Grace Harris-Nichols; his brother Norman; and his sister-in-law Ellie Schiefer.
He is survived by: his pet Andy; his children, Geoffrey Schiefer (Stephanie) and Linn Ash (Tim); his son-in-law Scott Harris (Anita); his grandchildren, Coltan Schiefer (Allyson), Levi Schiefer (Anna), Bethany Harris, Marianne Harris, Gretchen Keller (Seth), Nathanael Harris, David Jay Ash and Rachael Linn Ash; his sisters, Karen Scott (Donovan) and Marian Vance (Larry); and his nephews, Tom Schiefer and John Schiefer. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
Rather than flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to be made payable to Wayside Chapel, Crawford County Genealogical Society, or the Grace Harris-Nichols Foundation ("Grace's Light") and given at the funeral home.
