He was predeceased by : his parents, Arden Smith and Elizabeth Smith (Hawkins); his siblings, Virginia Kohli, Joan Swalley and Carl Smith; and his granddaughter Lesley Smith.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Jean Kaple; his children, Doug Smith (Wanda), Lauren and Dennis (Kelly); his grandchildren, Erika Fogel (Andrew) and Nick Smith (Alexia Koerkenmeier); and his great grandchild Caleb Fogel.

Memorial donations are encouraged to be made payable to Epilepsy Foundation Ohio and given through the funeral home.
