He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward and Helen Akers (Willford); and his brothers, Robert "Bob" Akers and Charles A. "Chuck" Akers. He is survived by: his wife Melissa "Missy" Akers (Guinther); his sons, Alex Akers (Olivia) of Ft. Wayne and Aaron Akers (Peyton) of Ontario; and his brother Michael F. Akers of Galion.
