He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Thomas Schuh and Eleanor Higgins. He is survived by: his parents, Shawn P. Higgins and Debra L. Higgins (Schuh); his sister Megan Higgins; his grandparents, Glenna Schuh and James Higgins; his aunts and uncles, Michael Schuh, Maureen (Higgins), Thomas DesMarais, Colleen (Higgins) and TJ Moore; and his pet Schwarz.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Derek to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
