He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Dora Gibson Fields and James; his wife Garnet Eileen Holbert Fields; his daughter Garnet Elizabeth Fields; his siblings, Ida May Hollins, Ralph, Melvin, Harold, Clarence, Robert, Paul and Charles; his daughters, Tanis Fields of Long Beach, Theda Fields White of Concord, Dorothea Fields of Haddonfield, Joanna Fields (Todd) of Columbus and Debra Smith (Carlos) of Columbus, Ohio.; his sister Bessie Elizabeth Tobin; his grandchildren, Robin Crew (Taji), Constance Greene (Terrance), James L. Fields II (Brenda), Brittany Duckery, Hannah Fields, Ty Smith and Trey Smith; his great grandchildren, Autumn, Aminah, Aleah and William; and his great great grandchild Kristian. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews and close friends.
