James leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. James’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew James will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith and Dessie Lou Smith (Goddard); and his wife Gloria Smith (Parke). He is survived by: his children, Zande Smith (Judy Price), Joel Smith (Jeanne), Kevin Smith, Caron Hospedales (Marlon) and Joanna Might. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel (639 1st St NE, Massillon, OH 44646). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
