He was predeceased by: his parents, William Jefferson and Eula Exie Hess; his sister Jean Ray; his grandmother Miller (Roseann Hale); and his brothers, William Hess and Arnold Hess.
He is survived by: his wife Lucy Hess; his children, Jeff Hess, Steve Hess (Donna) and Cindy Thompson (Mike Kilbarger); his grandchildren, Kristy (Mark), Alisha (Bart), Jennifer, Jarad and Crista; his great grandchildren, Dylan, Cameron, Abby, Riley and Logan; and his sister Daphne Stinson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to a charity of one's choice.
