He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Smith and Betty Smith (Edison); his sister Rev. Karen Smith; his grandparents, Arthur, Kate Smith, Elmer and Estelle Ghent; his aunts, Donna June Gomph of Cardington and Genevieve Ghent; and his uncle Tom.

He is survived by: his significant other Kimberly Ann Smith (Little); his siblings, Susan Smith, Bruce Smith, Wayne Smith of Edison and Terry Smith (Laura Clevenger-Smith) of Ashley; his niece Bethany Speers (Nick); his nephews, Justin Smith (Cindy) and Benjamin Smith (Marti); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Hadley Divelbiss, Everly Smith, Kai Divelbiss and Noah Smith; his extended family, Dakota Nester, Kenton Nester and Audrey Nester; and his caregiver Sandy.
