He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Shaner and Olena McNutt Shaner; his daughter Karen Dooley; and his siblings, Anna and Delmar.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Shaner (Weir); his children, Glennda Hawkins, Yvonne Starlin and Brian Fithen; and his siblings, Elden Shaner, Mary and Arvella. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
