He was predeceased by : his parents, Cecil Saffell and Bernice Saffell; his sister Emma Saffell; his grandsons, David and Scott Irwin; and his nephew Ira Beard III.
He is survived by : his significant other Brenda Saffell; his children, John Saffell Jr. (Tessa) of Scio and Christina Irwin (Matthew) of Alliance; his grandchildren, Daniel and Allison; and his sisters, Connie Vint (Harry) of Amsterdam, Peggy Beard (Ira II) of Scio and Cindy Guy (Elmer) of Canton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
