He is survived by: his wife Sharon (Straley); his children, Tammy Johanns (Jeff Adams), Donald Shaffer, Jr. (Darla) and Jody Shaffer; and his grandchildren, Lesley Parrett, Eric Johanns, Jerrica Steffens, Justin Shaffer, Linzee Hahn and Jesse Moreno. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
