He was predeceased by: his parents, James Earl and Beulah Grace Thurston (Lewis); and his siblings, Angie Thurston, Gary Thurston (June) and Vickie Byers (Sonny).

He is survived by: his siblings, Linda Thurston of Miamisburg, Phillip Thurston (Nida) and Timothy Thurston of Celina; and his siblings' children, Julie Smith, Duane Thurston, Angie Works, Joseph Thurston, Theresa Freniere and Derrick Orlik.
