He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Bruns and Viola Bruns (Wehrman); his brother James Bruns; his brother-in-law Tom Hogan; his parents-in-law, Russell and Mary Weisman; and his great-nephew Zack Eilerman.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Weisman; his children, Jeremy Bruns of Fort Wayne, IN and Jessica Cripe of Middlebury, IN; his grandchildren, Jacob Cripe and Kylee Cripe; his sisters, Marge Albers (Walt) of Maria Stein, Bonnie Hogan of Enumclaw, WA, Linda Bruns of Kettering and Karen Bruns of Columbus; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Weisman (Vicki) of Celina and Jennifer Roidt (Marc) of Celina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
