He was predeceased by: his parents, Juanita Montgomery (Cline) and C. Harold Montgomery. He is survived by: his wife Verna Montgomery (Hinz); his sons, Scott Darryl Montgomery (Wendy) and Stacy Thomas Montgomery (Chrystal); his grandchildren, Makayla, Nate and Robert; and his siblings, Richard Montgomery, Anne Niles and Rebecca Heidt.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM and on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel (637 OH-61, Sunbury, OH 43074). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Green Hill Cemetery (7621 Johnstown-Alexandria Rd, Johnstown, OH 43031).
