He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard D. Battles and Shirley J. Layne; and his father-in-law W. Raymond Hietanen. He is survived by: his wife Diana; his children, Ryan Battles (Joy Pascua), Corey Battles (Dana) and Ashley Nyman (Kyle); his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Lucas, Zoey, Lillian, Olivia and Sophia; his siblings, Cheryl Greene (Steve), Stephen Battles (Eileen), Tracy Layne (Crystal) and Eugene Layne (Anne); his mother-in-law Dolores Hietanen; and his siblings-in-law, Paula Hietanen, Murray Hietanen (Sherill Kiely) and Dave Hietanen (Janet). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home & Cremation Services (116 South St, Chardon, OH 44024). A celebration of life was held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Chardon United Methodist Church (515 North St, Chardon, OH 44024).
