He is survived by : his daughters, Tracy Ross (Day) of Rome and Shannon Nelson (Day) of Maryland; his sister Doretta Frantz (Dodie Day) of Rock Creek; his grandchildren, John Shaffer of Perry, Jessica Shaffer of Rome, Rebecca Shaffer of Newbury, Bryan Shaffer of Newbury, Jacquelyn Nelson of Maryland, Vanessa Nelson of Maryland, Rachel Nelson of Maryland and Jerry Nelson of Maryland; his nieces, Tina Coe of Chardon, Jane Grover of Chardon and Jewel Freeman (Grover) of Florida; and his nephew Thomas Grover of Mentor. He is also survived by his family and friends.
