He was predeceased by: his parents, I. Lloyd Harper and Ruth Harper (Goldsbary); his wife Edna Belle Harper; and his siblings, Robert, William Harper, Harriot Woodward, Doris Williams, Shirley Shultz, Carol Clayton and Virginia Sweet.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Sandy Jenkins (Marnie Webb), Jim Hunter, Debbie Rucker (Jeff) and Lisa Webb (Dwight); his grandchildren, Stephanie Kennedy (Joe), Seth Jenkins, Emily Kadish (Ian), Mackenzie Mayo (Brad), Jacie Mays (Cameron), Kyle Webb (Shelby), Kristen Herrell (Evan) and Kolton Webb (Malli); his great grandchildren, Casen, Cole, Carson Kennedy, Knox, Remi Kadish, Palmer, Kross Mayo, Chett Mays, Krew, Kree, Kane Webb, Lucy, Hattie, Dean and Leo Herrell; his brother Phillip Harper; and his nieces and nephews, Tracy Helmer, Darlene Nelson and Deanne Weinberg.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Beard Mortuary (3001 3rd Ave, Huntington, WV 25702). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any contributions be made to Shriner's Hospital in his honor.
