He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph P. Schlaegel and Edith Schlaegel (Lewis); his wife Norma Jean Knisley; his son Joseph "Bub" Schlaegel Jr.; his daughter-in-law Tonya Schlaegel; his granddaughter Samantha Schlaegel; and his sisters, Julia Shepler and Martha Limley.
He is survived by: his sons, Rev. Mike Schlaegel (Becky) of Shoals and Robert Schlaegel of Chillicothe, OH; his grandchildren, Mystery Burton (Seikura), Hailey Schlaegel, Eli Schlaegel (Hannah), Destiny Schlaegel and Aulbrey Baker (Zach); and his sister Mary Speakman. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
