She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence G. Hess and Gladys A. Shea Hess; her siblings, Dr. Philip J. Hess, Thomas L. Hess and Mary Ellen; her brother-in-law Robert Hilgert; and her nephew-in-law Ken Renko.

She is survived by: her close friend James W. VanGundy; her sisters-in-law, Cathy Hess of Charlotte and Joan Hess of Chillicothe; her nieces and nephews, Dr. Philip J. Hess, Jr. (Pam) of Indianapolis, Indiana, John Hess of Charlotte, NC, Sally Renko of Boca Raton, Kristin James (Charles) of Charleston, SC, Kathi Hilgert of Philadelphia, Jon Hilgert (Christine) of Dunwoody, GA and Nicole Hess of Chillicothe; her cousins, Robert C. Hess of Chillicothe and James Hess of Glen Ellyn, IL.; and also, Michelle and Melissa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice.
