He was predeceased by: his parents, William Russell and Frances Elizabeth Schackart Mathews; and his daughter Kristen Mathews Steele Brewer. He is survived by: his partner Shirley May Turner; his son William Thomas Mathews (Chianne); his siblings, Terry Mathews (Delores) and Linda Clemmons (Gary); his grandchildren, Dawson Mathews, Westin Mathews, Waylin Mathews, Parker Steele, Layni Brewer and Zayne Brewer; his niece Wendy Crowe Jeff Ratliff; and his nephew Scott Ratliff.
