He is survived by: his wife Susan Bortz of Parkinson's Disease; his children, Molly Bortz-Druffel (Dylan), Samuel Bortz (Kara) and Abigail Koucky (Nicholas); his grandchildren, Jackson, William, Charlie, Theo and Ava; his brothers, Neil Bortz (Susie Myers) and Paul Bortz (Judy); and his caregiver Boyce King.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the ASPCA.
