Barbara Jean (nee Harris) Houston was born on October 14, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the first child of six children born to the late Robert Lee Harris and the late Mary Evelyn (Smith) Harris. She departed this life on April 30, 2022 at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash, Ohio.
Barbara professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Harry Brown. Barbara graduated from Milford High School in 1963 in Milford, Ohio. She furthered her education by attending Christ Hospital Nursing School. On December 17, 1965, she married the late attorney Walter Scott Houston. Within this union she raised their daughter Andrea Evelyn Houston.

Barbara liked hosting parties for her late husband's colleagues. She immensely enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Barbara went to work for Hamilton County Employment Training Agency/ HCJFS in 1980 as a recruitment employment specialist where she worked 27 years until she retired in 2007.

The Lord called Barbara home to rest; a job well done. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her daughter Andrea E. Houston, her brother Robert Lee Harris, Jr., sister Maryann Putman (James). Her siblings who preceded her in death, Shirley E. Rodgers (Hubert), Marvin W. Harris and Edward D. Harris, all of Cincinnati, Ohio. Two aunts, Marion Thompson of Maryland and Marian White of Cincinnati, Ohio. A host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

For none of us lives for themselves alone and none of us dies to themselves alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
