He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Hils; his children, Kathleen Rechel (Andrew), David Hils (Mary), Sandra Maffey (Paul), Linda Ratterman (Jeff) and Beth Noe (Michael); his grandchildren, Shawn, Amanda, Angela (Kevin), Ben (Olivia), Dave Jr. (Nicole), Joe (Ali), Maria (Matthew), Eric (Danielle), Anna (Andy), Grace, Adam (Carly), Rebecca (Ben), Nick (Katie), Cara (Jake), Katherine, Abby, Claire and Brian; his great grandchildren, Luke, McKenna, Addy, Judah, Mae, Emme, Izzy, Makayla, Ellie and Quinn; and his sister Joyce Blanchet. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
