He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Brandi Crank; his brother Richard Gates; and his parents, Richard Gates and Julia Gates. He is survived by: his wife Patricia A.; his children, Denise Davis (Todd), Donald Gates, Jr. (Nancy), Rebecca Burns (Sarah), Justin Gates (Alicia), Patricia Bledsoe and Bobbie Jean Crank; his grandchildren, Donald Davis, Katelyn Gates, Ashely Gates, Conner Gates, Addyson Gates, Eli Gates, Allison Hable, Maddison Hable, Payton Hable, Shane Crank, Shawn Crank and Josh Crank; and his siblings, Dan Gates and Diane Wilhelm. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
