He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Dale Self and Marilyn Sue Cox Haines (Edward); and his brother Anthony Cockrell. He is survived by: his stepfather Edward Haines III; and his siblings, Kent Dale Self, Sandra Crabtree, Rhonda Self, John Rogers and Bobby.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Sabina Cemetery.
