He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles McCowen and Alice McCowen; his wife Virginia Francis Patton McCowen; his children, Beverly Thomas (Robert Sr.) and Paul McCowen, Sr.; his siblings, Robert, Theodore, Richard, Melvin, Sr. and Annabel Lewis; and his niece Helen Cunningham. He was also cherished by 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
