He was predeceased by: his parents, Clotilda Merkl and Peter Merkl; his wife Margaret "Peggy" Merkl; and his siblings, Clotilda Schreiber (Fred), Delores Lauman (Raymond), Rosemary Freeman (James), Anna Mae Allgeier, Sr. (Harry), Ann Dominic Merkl (Evelyn) and Howard Merkl (Ellen).
He is survived by: his children, Lois Finnell (Scott), James Merkl (Julie) and Lisa Merkl-Martin; his grandchildren, Kate, Maria Finnell, Christopher Martin and Courtney Lundberg (Bryce); his great grandchild Riley J. Lundberg; and his grandchild Sanibel. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ed's name may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
