He was predeceased by: his stepfather Robert L. Tharp; and his grandmother Helen Blankenship. He is survived by: his wife Michelle Cook (McHenry); his child Adia Cook; his parents, Patricia J. Tharp and Russell M. Cook; his brothers, G. Todd Cook and R. Scott Cook; his stepsiblings, Cathy Tharp and Steve Tharp; and his siblings' children, Hannah Hayes (Cook), Jessie Orozco (Cook), Allyson McHenry, Kai Gerstein and Ping Gerstein. He is also survived by his uncles, aunts and cousins.
In lieu of flowers or donations to specific charities, Whitey's family suggests honoring his memory by helping those in need, lending a hand to a neighbor, supporting a local food store, shelter or church.
