He was predeceased by: his stepson Randy Douglas; his nephew Greg Davis; and his brother Joe Athon. He is survived by: his wife Linda; his stepdaughter Robin Clendening (Mike); his children, Gary Athon (Jamie) and Amanda Athon (Joe Hemmerling); his siblings-in-law, Gail and Darrell Davis; his grandchildren, Erin Sanders (Matt), Derick Pies (Katie), Jacob Pies, Tyler Douglas, Avery Athon Hemmerling, Natalie Athon Hemmerling and Everett Athon; his great grandchild Haven Sanders; and his siblings, Ken Athon, Steve Athon (Vicky) and Kathy Cable (Jim). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Newcomer Cremations Funerals Receptions Westside Chapel (3300 Parkcrest Ln, Cincinnati, OH 45211). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
