She was predeceased by: her parents, John Choates and Lucille Choates; her siblings, Lewis, Willie, Thomas, Robert Choates and Vivian Barnett; and her son-in-law Leslie Jordan.

She is survived by: her husband Manuel, Sr.; her children, Manuel Byers, Jr. (Patricia), Anthony Glenn Byers, Frederick Byers and Natalie Jordan (Les); her granddaughter Brittney Nicole Hardy (Dominic); her son Antonio Davis; and her sister Carrie Choates.
