He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexey Chernay and Tatania Chernay; his daughter Ann Louise Chernay; and his wife Edna Grace Chernay. He is survived by: his son Jack Chernay; his grandchildren, David, Josh and Holly Mudd (Jacob); his great grandchildren, Alexandria, JaeLynn, Joshua, Sasha Chernay and Gracie Mudd; and his brother Serge Chernay. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
His contributions to the community were recognized when he received a certificate of commendation from the mayor and painted murals inside Westwood Elementary School.
