He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Cowan and Juanita Cowan. He is survived by: his wife Doddie Cowan; his children, John Howe, Shonda Dunn (James), James Cowan Jr. (Tonya), Shawn Hodge (Shellie) and Melissa McCollum; his grandchildren, Lacey Howe (Kendric), Andrew Dunn, Bradley Dunn, Katelynn Dunn, Brayden Dunn, Sophia Cowan, Shawn Michael Hodge, Sheldon Hodge, Shane Hodge, Shalynne Espich, Jordin McCollum, Marrie McCollum and Liamm McCollum; his great grandchildren, Kaleb Ferguson, KJ McCloud, Karlie Dunn and Aubrey Dunn; and his siblings, Bob, Cliff (Verna), Gary Cowan (Faye) and Della Gundrum (Bruce). He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the West Side Chapel (3300 Parkcrest Ln, Cincinnati, OH 45211). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Newcomer Cremations Funerals (3300 Parkcrest Ln, Cincinnati, OH 45211).
