He was predeceased by: his parents, Herschel Ellison and Fannie Hart Ellison Higgins (Herb); and his sisters, Alma Felts, Doris Perkins and Ruth McKinney.

He is survived by: his wife Dianna Pennington Ellison; his children, Sherri Orr (Tom), Tonya Ellison and Kelly Priestland (Giles); his grandchildren, Annie Orr, Alex Orr, Graham Gunderman, Bobby Orr and Morgan Gunderman; and his brother Robert Ellison (Jean).
