She was predeceased by : her husband Harry Capehart; her granddaughter Laura; and her parents, Jerome Gruber and Dora Gruber. She is survived by : her children, Gary (Therese), Sandra (Donald), Michael (late Patricia) and Edward (Jamie); her grandchildren, Christina (Bill), Steven (Amanda), Kimberly (Michael), Kevin, Ashley (Richard), Jeremy, Alex (Victoria) and Megan; her great grandchildren, Alexis, Sophia, Ethan, Marlowe, Seth, Greyson, Jackson, Emersyn, Adalynn and Kirra; and her siblings, Jean Harrison and Jerry Gruber.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 9th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Savior Catholic Church (4136 Myrtle Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45236). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, April 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In honor of Joan's compassionate heart, contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati and St. Jude Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers.
