She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Thompson Smithwick and Mary Ellington Smithwick; her husband Mark; and her brother Jack. She is survived by: her children, Sarah Carefoot (John), Debbie Verderber (Randy) and Jonathan Wigser (Krista Patterson); her grandchildren, Anna, Ethan and Abby Verderber; Caleb.
A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gilligan Funeral Home (8225 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45236).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary's memory to the Cincinnati Zoo (https://cincinnatizoo.org) or Hospice of Cincinnati.
