He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Howard Schmelzer and Helen Nan Schmelzer; and his siblings, John Schmelzer of Michigan, Helen Margaret Goerl (Peggy) of California, Thomas Schmelzer of Arizona, Theodore Schmelzer of Michigan, Nancy Goodrich of Michigan and Barbara Baumgarden of Ohio.
He is survived by: his wife Marie-Thérèse Schmelzer; his children, Sabine (James) and Nicolas H. Schmelzer (Theresa) of Batesville, Indiana.; his grandchildren, Sophia Sohigian, James Sohigian, Paul Schmelzer, Luke Schmelzer, Emma Schmelzer, Peter Schmelzer and Alanna Schmelzer; and his brother Phil Schmelzer of Michigan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 10th 2027 at 11:00 AM at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church (800 Ohio Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45245).
