He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Collins R. Smith and Lyla Mae Holliday; his wife Beverly Joseph; his daughter Tina; his brother Melvin "Butch"; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Denise Joseph, Jean Boots and Jackie Coleman. He was also cherished by relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
