He was predeceased by: his parents, Hans (Lydia Gerstle) and German; his wife Patsy; and his siblings, John and Lydia.

He is survived by: his son Tom (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Joe, Anna and Lydia; his daughter Cindy (Glenn); his grandson John; and his sister Gertrude.
