She was predeceased by: her parents, Edna Heil and Phil "Bud" Heil. She is survived by: her husband John; her children, Scott Abernethy (Heather) and Molly Smyth (Sean); her stepchildren, Andrew Frank and Charley Frank (Amy Snyder); her granddaughters, Kylie and Julia Abernethy; her stepchildren, Christopher, Patrick, Stuart Smyth, Teddy, Lydia, Axel Frank, Sam and Avery Frank; and her sister Lynne Mileham (Dick).
Memorial contributions may be made in Susan's honor to organizations that reflect her lifelong commitment to community and inclusion, including the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Planned Parenthood, or the Cincinnati Parks Foundation.
